Day 39

One of the dogs came into work today covered in these balls which I always thought were called biddy bids but apparently the plant is known as cleavers, clivers, goosegrass, catchweed, stickyweed, robin-run-the-hedge, sticky willy, sticky willow, stickyjack, stickeljack, and grip grass, but these tiny balls are seed pods. Biddy bid is actually the European name for the Piripiri plant (The Māori name for Acaena microphyllawhich also has seed pods that stick to fur and clothing) or so the internet would tell me. Anyway, I collected a few so I could photograph them. 🙂

Day 39 - 08/02/17 - Seed Pod - Galium aparine, with many common names including cleavers, clivers, goosegrass, catchweed, stickyweed, robin-run-the-hedge, sticky willy, sticky willow, stickyjack, stickeljack, and grip grass.

Day 6

Six days into 2017 and off to a good start here. Weather has been a bit wet and windy but everything is still looking beautiful.

I tried to capture this stunning Calla Lily in mid bloom today. The wind wasn’t helping at all, nor the lack of sun but I am happy with the outcome.
